ASSOC. PROFESSOR HAYLEA BLUNDELL

BENDIGO'S LOCAL ORTHODONTIST

Dr Haylea Blundell, a local resident of Bendigo, completed her Dentistry masters at La Trobe University (Bendigo). With a strong passion for orthodontics, Haylea worked as a general dentist for three years before relocating to Brisbane to pursue specialized Orthodontic training at The University of Queensland, where she obtained her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry - Orthodontics degree. Haylea's dedication and expertise in the field have been recognized through various accolades. She was selected as a Resident Student Scholar applicant at the American Association of Orthodontics conference in 2021. Additionally, she won third prize for her post-graduate research at the International Orthodontic Conference in Japan in 2020. Furthermore, Haylea was honored with the Elsdon Storey Award by the Australian Society of Orthodontists in 2021 for her exceptional research paper. She has also achieved Membership in Orthodontics by examination with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and is certified by the Australasian Board of Orthodontists.

In her younger years, Dr. Haylea excelled as a gymnast at Palmer's Gymnastics, participating in competitions at state, national, and international levels. Her talents even led her to compete in New Zealand and the World Championships in Germany. Through her gymnastics career, Dr. Haylea has developed the skill of connecting effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.

With a profound love for orthodontics, Dr. Haylea finds joy in not only creating beautiful smiles for her patients, but also in offering a personalized treatment approach to make them feel welcomed and at ease in her practice. In addition to her clinical work, she serves as an Associate Professor (specialist coordinator in Orthodontics) at La Trobe University, a role that enables her to give back to the institution where she laid the foundation for her dental career.

Haylea finds joy in spending her free time with her loved ones, including her family and her loyal canine companion, Louie.
